I am a parent that lives in Philadelphia & I've made several attempts to contact & set up a line of communication with the FCHS staff. My son attend this school & he's expected to graduate in May 2014. Even though I have court paper that allows me (by right) to inquire grades, events, etc; the faculty has ignored my emails as if they were the judge and jury. I am so upset cause I have now missed out on his graduation pics, because his father could not afford them. I am financially supporting my son and if the school would've answered my email anytime during the last 3 years maybe I could have those valuable photos.

FCHS is an excellent school that services a huge demographic area. Because of this, a student at FCHS can expect exposure to diversity in addition to the typical high school experience. The school is very safe and offers an amazing array of courses for students to choose from. If your child is interested in sports FCHS consistently ranks in the top-3 within a 50 mile radius. If your child is college bound, FCHS has a program that transfers to most colleges and allows them to enter college as a Sophomore. That's an entire year of college for free! If your child has any type of disability, the school has amazing resources available. The personal approach this school takes with its students is nothing short of inspiring. You will find that (with parent involvement) FCHS has fantastic opportunities for your son or daughter. There are drugs in all public schools and FCHS is no exception, however, there are a lot of safety nets in place to allow an engaged parent to detect this type of problem early. For example, a parent can monitor test grades, attendance and communicate with teachers online. My children went to FCHS and they found it prepared them well. A+++!

This school is "claiming" it does not have enough funds to issue each student a textbook. How are we supposed to be teaching our kid's the "right" way and give them the proper education without a textbook for them to bring home and study for the tests and quizzes? I withdrew both of my children today, due to poor decision making on Franklin County's part, and have enrolled them in a private online Christian Academy. When the school claims they have no money, however they had over a 2 million dollar surplus, they are miss-spending "our" money, and an example of this would be them spending $170,000.00 on fruit cakes last year??? This County is a joke, and so are the teachers. Franklin County school systems are an embarrassment to the education system. They are rude, and very unprofessional. This comes from a former alumni of 1996. My husband graduated from Radford University in 2001 with his Bachelors Degree, also he is almost finished with his Masters Degree with Liberty University, I, myself am almost finished with my Bachelors from Liberty University, so this comes from individuals who actually know about education. I will not name any name's, but a certain Administrator, Ms. "J"

Franklin County High is a very poorly educated school. They "Claim" to have no money to give my son a textbook, and will not give him his assignments that he missed while sick, after we have asked for them for weeks now. The Administration, Ms. "J" we will call her, is the rudest little lady I have ever been in touch with. She demanded I sit down, when I came to pick my son up from school, and was yelling at the top of her lungs at me. She threatened to have an officer arrest me if I would not sit down and listen to what she had to say. She answered my son's cell phone, and on an emergency basis we called him today, and she said that our son did not want to talk to us. No wonder they fired the last principal, and are having so much turn over with teachers. If this is the type of education we are giving our young generation, I suggest everyone home school their children, and bypass Franklin County High School. We are going over the school board with these threats and actions, and a lawsuit will possibly be in force by the end of the month. Have a GREAT day Ms. "J" when u want to pay the cell bill, then u can answer our sons phone!!

I'm graduating from FC this spring and I have to say I couldn't think of any other place to spend four years of my life. Everyone here is so helpful and caring. The AP teachers are pretty much the best ever. I've enjoyed my life here in FC and I plan on coming right back after college. It really is a great school and a great community.

First of all there is only drugs and violence if you choose to involve yourselves in them. The community is very caring and looks out for each other. The school has overqualified teachers, some being both professors and high school teachers. Having educations from Pennsylvania Univeristy and Oxford, are only a few of the great schools the teachers have attended. They are willing to tutor and help you out as much as they can. The school will definitely prepare you for college if you choose to take challenging classes. I currently am taking AP Calculus, AP Biology, College English, and Advanced Accounting, getting college credits already. My brother took similar courses and is now majoring in Bio-Chemistry at Virginia Tech and doing well.

There is a lot of violence, drugs, and alcohol involved at this school. The environment is highly oppressing and the students have no values.TERRIBLE school..

I attended Franklin County High School, and do not feel that it truly prepared me for college. I graduated with a high gpa, but did not feel truly challenged. One of the teachers that I had refused to offer assistance when I was having great difficulty with the subject matter, and was prone to ridicule students. My mother contacted the admisistration, and no solution was ever found. There were some good teachers, but for the most part they were adequate.

The teachers are very dedicated, and there are a lot of excellent pprograms to prepare students for a trade, pretty impressive. The only weakness is the fact that the school is overcrowded, as it is the only high school in the county. They do a great job making it work, and have very good structure in place for those with an IEP. I was impressed with this considering the huge student population.

There are many factors that make our school great. Students, staff, administration, athletics, parents, the list could go on forever. Our school has a small school atmosphere with the benefits of a large school. (Where else could you take sign language or small animal care?) We have caring teachers and administrators who don't take the easy way out (even if that makes us unpopular sometimes). I would not ever consider leaving this school to teach in another. I have traveled all over the state and the country and have not ever found a school to top ours. We may not win big championships with our sports teams, and we may not have the highest test scores in the country, but what we do have are intelligent, respectful and mature young adults that are a credit to our county (thanks to our parents, teachers, and community).

Even though I'm in my junior year this year, this is my second year being at FCHS. Out of the 6 schools I've been to, I highly say that this school is the best. The teachers are really helpful and the other kids there are great. I love it there. I'm going to miss it when I graduate there next year. The school is like home to me now. Go FCHS! Go Eagles!

I have recently graduated from FCHS and I could not have asked for a better high school experience. We are an excellent community at FCHS. The learning experience is top notch and all the teachers are excellent. Leaving FCHS at graduation was like leaving home. =]

I went to Franklin County when the football program had very little support. There have been improvements in both the athletic and academics at the school. The thing is, nobody is gonna stand and cheer when the ribbons are cut on the CATCE center. All the attention is put on money spent for sport, which if people would realize it is this type of spirit building and pride cultivation that makes people want to support the school as a whole! Go eagles, oh yeah if your kid cant play a sport, they spend plenty of money on the band as well!

My boys have a forty minute bus ride to school. The administrators were very cold and zero tolerance was promoted after ten days of entering this new world. By the time they got to high school, the quality of teachers had diminished. The teachers would comment on how overwhelmed they were. My boys would have 30-40 in a classroom. I hope others have a better experience than we had. We are leaving Franklin County.
